This week...

Matt has been on vacation this week, so we've had the chance to do some fun things. In a nutshell...

My brave friend offered to allow our kids to spend the night with her kids at a local campsite. I hung out for most of the day, watching the kids ride bikes and scooters, and play in the mud. And I ate and ate and ate.

That night we reveled in our freedom by going out to dinner and a movie. We ate at the Royal Hawaiian in Laguna Beach. They are remodeling, so it appears to be more of a royal dump, but the food is still delish. It was the restaurant we ate at after Matt astounded me with a shocking marriage proposal. I jest. Anyway, we had a great time.

Yesterday we grilled on Matt's fathers day grill, followed up by smores. Mmmmm, smores. Why is bad food so good?

Today we went to Matt's grandma's house. She has a huge yard, so we brought along a slip n slide. The kids loved, loved, loved it. I was jealous, it looked really fun. Grace would run quickly up to the slide, then ever so gently lay down and scoot. Matt and I gave her some good tugs.

Jake could not get enough of the slide. He was really cute, all excited, and even told us later, "This is really fun, thanks for buying it!"

They also got baseball lessons from Dad.

I thought it was sweet that later in the day Jake asked, "Mom, does great grandma live here all by herself?" I told him yes. He paused for a second and with a concerned look on his face, said, "Well, she has friends to come and visit her, right?" I knew he was thinking about her being lonely. He can push my buttons sometimes, but his thoughtfulness often surprises me. He is so sweet to Matt's grandma, always polite and starting conversations about things he has been up to at school or in sports. I think some kids are maybe intimidated by their older family members or friends, so it is really fun to see Jake connect with her. We always have a good time when we go up to see her, and his thoughtfulness is a reminder that we need to do it more often!

Jake is such a sweet, mature boy. How sweet that he strikes up conversation with Grandma H.

I love the picture of Matt yanking, I mean, pulling Grace down the slide. I'm glad her arm didn't get dislocated. Ha! Ha! Ha.

You look hot in the picture of you and Matt. I don't like that your pictures don't get big though so I can see every detail. I love details!

What a fun week! How nice to spend family time together and that's so cool that you got a night to yourselves.

Too bad you forgot to mention Matt getting a phone call from a duck.

Now that is a summertime song. Hooray for summer!

I love when Jay is home on vacation. Things just go a little bit smoother and it's more fun!

I love that you guys were able to go on a date! So exciting.

Your kids are the sweetest. I really need to meet them.

Hey and thanks for the update so soon after the last post.

I seriously get anxiety, when I don't hear a new song or a new story from you on a regular basis.

Whats this about a phone call from a duck????

And I don't get the music video - is it because I'm old?

Looks like they really liked the slip n slide! The shot of Jake with the water spray is really neat!
