I love Spring. Actually, I love every season, because it is so fun to celebrate each one with the kids. Anyway, yesterday we dyed Easter Eggs. You can see how spring-like and Eastery they came out...
Nothing like C3PO, Darth Vader, Yoda, and R2D2 to celebrate a holy day like Easter.
Grace spent most of the time trying to figure out how to put her princess rhinestones on the eggs. Seriously, egg kits with stickers, they don't work.
Everyone is very excited about the Easter Bunny coming. Grace heard the people upstairs stomping around last night and exclaimed, "The Easter Bunny!" We will probably go see him at the mall this week.
In other news, my Old Navy miracle pants are on their last run. These are the jeans that should by no means fit any longer, but by some sort of miracle, have lasted me to week 17. How I love them. They are now being fastened by a hair band. I am starting to feel the baby move a tiny bit, contrary to my mom's opinion that it is just gas. It is NOT gas. Even the nice doctor whom I saw last week (Dr. O. - she is really nice Tonya and Jen! Maybe I should switch to her.) said that I should be starting to feel him move right about now. I go in for an ultrasound next week, so Dr. Willy Wonka in Fetal Diagnostics can confirm whether or not it is indeed a boy. I am so glad to be past most of the "sick" part. I still feel yucky in the morning, but at least it doesn't last all day. Hooray for the second trimester!
By the way, does anyone have a good egg salad recipe?

Christie, I can't believe you still fit in your regular pants at all! I would've been in maternity pants by now. Great job Old Navy!
How the heck do you dye eggs like that? They look so cool. R2D2 looks just like the Rainbow Home Cleaning System.
Also, egg salad? Are you craving it? Here is the only recipe you'll need:
4 hard boiled eggs
mayo
mustard
whole wheat bread
Peel eggs. Place in bowl. Smash with fork. Add mayo and mustard to taste. Spread on bread. Eat. Thank you. If you want to post this on Rachel Ray's website, you have my consent.
Oh for crying out loud - you HAD to put that part in about the gas?
Sheesh! (and I'm sorry it probably was...)
Those eggs Jake (and you!) made look great! Amazing what they make now. Poor Grace, you are right - why do they still have stickers in those kits? Remember "writing and drawing" with the white crayon and then dying the egg? That never worked too well either!
And Robyn, Bo-Ring! How about a little chopped celery, green onion or lettuce?
Green onion? Oh no. Here come the dry heaves....
Dry heaves? Harumph! I just googled Rachel's recipe and she uses ANCHOVY PASTE!
Mega- EW!
AAHAHAH! Christie's mom.... with the white crayon... I totally used to do that.It was ridiculous to try to write on an egg. Everything always looked strange when you dyed it.
Good job on the pants Christie, I'll have to get me some of those.
oh man baby's up but I have so much more to say!
Christie. I'm going to add you to my blog list since you are a regular blogger now, I have to check your blog more often.
We are dying eggs tomorrow, I'm a bit scared of the disaster that will ensue. All in the name of family traditions, right?
Dr. O is very nice. Very fragile looking, but very nice. She has a 6 or 7 year old. Funny, huh?
I'm so excited for you, almost time to bust out the maternity pants. Oh joy of all joys.
No egg salad recipe from me. They are vile little objects.
Robyn is to onions as Tonya is to eggs.
Oh, and I am trying to figure out who Dr. Willy Wonka is. I know what group you are talking about, but not sure which doc...
Robyn, your egg salad recipe was kind of blah. Sorry. Someone told me to add relish, which I was surprised you didn't mention, as you are a pickle freak.
Tonya, SHUT UP, 6 or 7 year old?! That is odd! Also, do you like no eggs at all ... scrambled, omelettes, etc.?
Willy Wonka is a funny-probably-had-to-be-there-story, but I had to go to FD a lot with Grace. She was making mischief even in utero. Anyway, Robyn came with me once and they made us wait in the room for a long time. So we did what everyone else probably does and gave each other ultrasounds while we waited. Well, in walked Dr. K. and later, Robyn started calling him Willy Wonka b/c he kind of looks like Gene Wilder (not really, but the hair...?). He was with the crew who came in and took their lunch break while I delivered Grace. Hahaha!
Also, I always wonder, does it ever get old seeing babies born? It seems like it would be so cool to get to do that every day (or when you work.)
I know, I know. I'm sure people think she is with her grandma when they are out and about together. It was so weird to see her pregnant!
Okay, I get it now. He DOES look like Willy Wonka! Hahaha.
It NEVER gets old being at a birth. Ever. Just last week I had a great delivery. The dad was WEEPING. Not just a few tears down his cheeks, but full on body shakes weeping. It was only for a few seconds, and he got it together, but it was adorable. I like strong men, so usually this would have bugged me, but it was great. It was like the world stood still for him at that moment. It just proved to me how incredibly powerful the bond of parenthood is. Love at first sight. It truly is a miracle.
Oh, and no eggs for me. No omelets, scrambles, frittas, quiches, nada. I wish I did like them though. It's the only thing I won't eat.
okay back again...Those egg costume things are the bomb. Just don't tell Jay that they exist(super SW fan).
I agree with Tons on the dr.O thing. She is very nice, but I don't know that I'd switch MD's. It depends on who you have. My first choices for that group would be Dr. R (Ton's MD) or Dr. M. Ultimately I love My Dr and Dr. S from our group.
Willy Wonka HAHAHAHAH. I knew exactly who you were talking about. But I thought you called him that because he looked like an umpa loompa. He is the same size as them! All he needs is an orange face and a green jumper and he's all set!
I totally forget that you guys work with different med. groups, not just mine. Haha-oompa loompa. I am going to tell him you said that. (Just kidding!) I love what you wrote, Tonya, that is how I would hope my nurse would feel if I were in labor. My nurse with Grace was the best ... mid 40s, three kids I think, blonde short hair, and she had recently transferred from Cedar Sinai. She was super nice.
Anyway, sorry for these long posts and questions about your jobs, I really think it is fascinating and must be so cool (though I am sure there are hard situations, too.) Keep up the good work girls!
I remember that day with Willy Wonka. I remember how disappointed I was when all I saw was a black hole when I put the ultrasound stick on my stomach.
Also, pickle relish=tart taste with nasty odor that reminds me of onions. Vlasic dill or Disneyland pickles only.
